Chew on This is every 3rd Tuesday of the month!  \n\nThis month's speaker is Councilor Dan Boots\nIn his professional life\, Councilor Boots is a senior partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology group of the law firm Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP (Indianapolis office)\, focusing his practice on counseling emerging and established businesses in all areas of intellectual property and technology development\, including patent\, trademark\, copyright\, trade secret\, unfair competition\, and computer software\, hardware licensing\, E-commerce matters\, and entertainment and the arts. Councilor Boots earned a B.S.I.M. engineering option from Purdue University\, Krannert School of Management\, and his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University\, Robert H. McKinney School of Law.\n\nCouncilor Boots believes his legal expertise has been a big benefit in his community involvement\, where he has been able to methodically analyze proposed solutions. Skills needed in the legal profession transfer well to community service. As a lifelong resident of Indianapolis\, Councilor Boots has actively worked alongside the most influential northeast side neighborhood groups\, such as BRAG (Binford Redevelopment and Growth)\, GACC (Greater Allisonville Community Counsel)\, and Steinmeier Estates Neighborhood Association. As a long-time local activist\, Councilor Boots has collaborated in crafting a business/residential quality of life plan for Northeast Indianapolis\, as well as promoting the need for a city-sponsored Castleton Revitalization Plan.\n\nFinally\, Councilor Boots understands the needs and challenges of our community. His legal knowledge and experience have allowed him to critically analyze issues and separate fact from fiction\, enabling him to formulate wise and reasonable courses of action needed to address the challenges we will certainly face in the future. He currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Council's Rules & Public Policy Committee.
