Featured Speaker Danny Lopez
Danny Lopez currently serves as Vice President for External Affairs and Corporate Communications for Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) in Indianapolis, overseeing the multi-faceted communications for the entity that encompasses the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, the Pacers Foundation, Pacers Gaming, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and the operations at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This includes strategic messaging for the ongoing 3-year, $360m Fieldhouse of the Future renovation project and the company’s social justice and community engagement efforts across the state.
Prior to joining PS&E, Lopez served as Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President at Strada Education Network, an Indianapolis-based global non-profit advocating for purposeful and relevant postsecondary education and training. There, Lopez was responsible for working alongside the CEO and board of directors on the development of the company’s first state policy strategy and aligning its substantial philanthropic efforts to its investment strategy, research focus, and overall vision.
Before transitioning to the private sector, Lopez was Deputy Chief of Staff to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, overseeing State agency and Cabinet operations, legislative affairs, and intergovernmental relations with cities and towns. He also served as the inaugural Chairman of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet, a P-20 public-private commission statutorily empowered to set Indiana’s K-12, higher education, and workforce training policy. Prior to the 2016 election, Lopez served as then-Lieutenant Governor Holcomb’s Chief of Staff in the Administration of Governor Mike Pence, a role that includes oversight of Indiana Agriculture, Tourism, and Defense Development.
Before returning to State government, Lopez was State Director for Indiana’s senior United States Senator, Dan Coats. In that position, he oversaw state office operations, policy, coalition-building, and constituent services for the Senator. Prior to joining the Senator’s team in 2013, Lopez was Executive Director of Indiana’s Commission for Hispanic/Latino Affairs and Deputy Commissioner for the State’s Civil Rights Commission under Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.
Lopez is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award, the highest honor bestowed by Indiana’s Governor, and was selected to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list for 2015. He is a regular contributor to the Indianapolis Business Journal on public policy matters and serves or has served on numerous boards and commissions, including:

Lopez began his work in politics, advocacy, and government in 2004 as managing partner of Capitol Gains, Corp., a political consulting, policy, and Spanish-language media relations firm with a client portfolio ranging from national and international candidates to domestic and multi-national corporations.
